Overview

Lying on the northern part of Nepal almost 130 km far from the Kathmandu Valley. From the sea level it has the height of 4720 meter and is one of the rare trekking region of Nepal. This area was opened at 1991 as a touristic place. Passing through decent rice porch, impressive waterfall, view of typical Nepali pagoda style houses, scenic view of river, hills and mountains, we begin our trek to Rupina La Pass trek. The challenge to trek to Rupina La Pass is that there is a falling of big rocks while crossing the path. Here, the traveler will pass through glacier lakes, buddha himal glacier and touch to Manaslu trek route at Nyak. The traveler can continue trek further to Tsum-Valley and Manaslu Trek from Nyak or return back to Kathmandu from Nyak.

Trek to Rupina La Pass is geologically stupendous, culturally fascinating and trials are unbeaten. Scenic view of Manaslu (8156 meter), Himalchuli (7893 meter), Shring Himal (7177 meter), Buddha Himal (7422 meter), Ganesh Himal (7422 meter) will fascinate travelers during the trek. From Gar Kharka to Nyak listed in our itinerary no any tea houses are available so camping is needed. Camp will be organized by our company for the travelers who goes through our company.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Check Into hotel.


  • Airport pick up and hotel transfer
  • Rest of the day is free at leisure
  • Overnight stay at your hotel in Kathmandu
You will be warmly welcomed at the airport by our office representative and then you will transfered to hotel.

Day 2: Trek preparation and Kathmandu Sightseeing


  • Hotel breakfast
  • Pick up by our team and head to our office for your trek briefing and preparation
  • Afternoon sightseeing in Kathmandu
    • Kathmandu Durbar Square
    • Swayambunath Monkey Temple
  • Drop of at your hotel
  • Overnight in Kathmandu
 
Our staff will give brief explanation about the program .  you will visit  cultural heritages, which includes some of the famous world heritages sites like, Swyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square....

Day 3: Drive Kathmandu to Barpak (1915 meter) 7hours


  • Hotel breakfast and check out
  • Pick up by our team and transfer to the bus park or by private jeep.
  • A scenic bus/jeep ride takes us to Barpak the starting point of the Rupina La Region.
  • Barpak hotel check in
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Traveler’s note: Barpak is a small  town and popular for marketing of local people from Northern part. of Gorkha District, Most of the people are Buddhist and  Hindu and it is situated in Bank of Daraudi River which is started from Buddha Himal.

Day 4: Trek from Barpak to Gar Kharka (2900) Camp site


  • Hotel breakfast and check out
  • From here the road takes us to Gar Kharka
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Machhakhola
Traveler’s note: Passing through Jongong, Chisang, Pachgaon, Pauko Khola on the right and Daraudi Khola on the left. Expectation of waterfall, monkey watching, rice field, green forest.

Day 5: Gar Kharka to Camp I (3400 meter)


  • Breakfast and departure
  • We pass some waterfalls, stone paved ways and a mani wall
  • Arrival in Camp I
  • Dinner and overnight stay in Camp I
  • Camping is done here.

Day 6: Camp I to Sarung Kharka/Camp II (3800 meter)


  • Breakfast and departure
  • We start the trail by heading gently uphill
  • Followed by a flat leveled plateau we continue until reaching the river crossing
  • Crossing the suspension bridge over Daraudi Khola
  • Climbing uphill further until reaching Sarung Kharka/Camp II

Day 7: Sarung Kharka/Camp II to Rupina La (4720 meter)


  • Breakfast and departure
  • We start the trial by heading gently uphill.
  • Climbing uphill further until reaching Rupina La
Traveler’s note:   Today destination is reached and camping is done here. 

Day 8: Rupina La to Buddha Himal Base Camp (3700 meter)


  • Breakfast and departure
  • Trek to Buddha Himal Base Camp
  • Camp over there stay overnight
Traveler’s note: Today we get clear views of the Buddha Himal.

 

Day 9: Buddha Himal Base Camp to Jarang (3420 meter)


  • Breakfast and departure
  • Starting by heading down to the Jarang
  • Glacier of Buddha Himal is viewed

Day 10: Jarang to Zhong Kharka (2960 meter)


  • Breakfast and departure
  • Starting by heading down to the riverside
  • View of Chhilung khola on the right and rebing khola on the left
  • Further trek to Zhong Kharka

Day 11: Zhong Kharka to Nyak (2340)


  • Breakfast and departure
  • Trek from Zhong Kharka to Nyak via Gomna
  • Dinner and overnight stay at hotel

Day 12: Nyak to Jagat


  • Breakfast and departure
  • We start the trail by heading gently downhill
  • Followed by a flat leveled plateau we continue until reaching the river crossing
  • Enter Philim village and cross the suspension bridge over the Bhudi Gandaki
  • From Ekle Bhatti climbing downhill.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Jagat Hotel

Note: Nyak is the midpoint of Tsum Valley, Manaslu Circuit Trek and Rupina La Pass Trek. This day is the option day. Here, the traveler will get four option.
  • Option 1: Trek to Manaslu Circuit and reach Larkya La Pass (5160 meter)
  • Option 2: Trek to Tsum Valley (3900 meter)
  • Option 3: Trek to Tsum Valley and complete Manaslu Circuit via Larkya La Pass
  • Option 4: Return back to from the trek.

Day 13: Jagat to Machha Khola


  • Breakfast and departure
  • Today the Ganesh Himal is in clear view
  • We pass some waterfalls, stone paved ways and a mani wall
  • Arrival in Machha Khola
  • Dinner and overnight stay in Machha Khola

Day 14: Machha Khola to Soti Khola


  • Hotel breakfast and check out
  • From here the road takes us to Soti Khola
  • Dinner and overnight stay at Soti Khola
 
Traveler’s note: Majority of the way is by bank of the BudhiGandaki river and .You can expect waterfall, monkey watching, rice field, green forest and if the weather permits us we can see our first views of the Ganesh Himal, look out on the road, there is a high chance to see waterfalls as well  corssing  sevral local  sattelments. Soti is a small  town and popular for marketing of local people from Northern part. of Gorkha District, Most of the people are Buddhist and  Hindu and it is situated in Bank of Bhudhi Gandaki River

Day 15: Soti Khola to Kathmandu


  • Hotel breakfast and check out
  • Pick up by our team and transfer to the bus park or by private jeep.
  • A scenic bus/jeep ride takes us to Kathmandu
  • Kathmandu hotel check in
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Airport pick up and drop off by Car, jeep, Hiace or Bus. Depends on the number of arrives.

  • Beginning two nights stay on arrival in Kathmandu in tourist standard hotel with breakfast included (twin share basis)
  • Kathmandu to Barpak (trekking starting point) transfer by Bus, and way back from Soti Khola to Kathmandu by bus.

FAQ

Is permit necessary?
Yes, the trekkers are definitely needed a permit for the Rupina La Pass Trek. The trekkers are not need to worry about the permits, our company can get the trekkers permit once the trekkers book the trek in our company.
What kind of meals will be provided during the camping?
There won't be restaurants or tea house so, we wil be serving local food available in the local region, fruits, hot soups, noodles and so on
Is ATMs service available during the trip?
The facility of the ATMs is not available during the trek. Before starting the trek the travelers are required to collect the enough cash for the trek in Kathmandu and begin the trek.
Is internet and battery charge service available?
For the camping days there would not be any facility of internet and battery charge, in such situation power bank, solar charger will go great and in the tea house there will be a menu which serves local food (daal-vaat-achar), snacks, soft drinks, soups, beer and so on
What about insurance?
Insurance is significant factor for the safety of travelers to use against the unforeseen circumstances. The insurance should cover emergency helicopter transportation cost and accidental issues. Mostly we suggest insurance in case of emergency evacuation which will be reliable and safety of the traveler.
What is the best time for Rupina La Pass Trek?
Rupina La Pass only opens in Autumn which is from Sempetmber-November and in Spring March to May because it is the best season to travel in this region where the traveler can have a sceneric view of flora, fauna, mountain, Himalayas and hills. No any chances of rainfall and snow fall is there in this season. 
Is trekking poles necessary?
While travelling through the rough roads trekking poles helps to walk easily for the trekkers. We prefer to use it for the travelers because it balances your body and legs to travel safely.
What are the tips for avoiding altitude sickness in Rupina La Pass trek?

There are some tips to which our company would like to guide for the travelers to avoid altitude sickness; such as:

  • Avoiding the drinks which contains the caffeine added, smoking and alcohol
  • Travel slowly concerning your health
  • Drinking more amount of water i.e. minimum 3-4 liters per day
  • Being familiarized with the environment and having a healthy foods and beverage
  • Continuing with Diamox if needed, it is carried for the backup
  • We prefer Garlic soups to sustain the environment
What if I don’t feel well during the trek?
We prefer our clients to take a personal health kit as a safety of their health. If dizzy or weak is felt then the guide will be there to help you. The traveler must take a rest and keep themselves warm until the medical support is available.  If no any progress them the guide will carry the patient down. Helicopter rescue is given for the serious issues.
